It comes around only once a year, but that doesn’t stop us from appreciating linemen all year long. And there’s a good reason for this. Power linemen are the reason we have safe, efficient, reliable electricity flowing into our homes and businesses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What We Never See
While many professions require late nights and long hours away from home, a lineman’s job takes the prize. Most of us will never see the sacrifices they and their families make for us to stay safe, warm, and happily watching television.
The cold wind, the pelting rain, the icy roads and power poles, the deep snow and the constant risk of electrocution are often just part of the job. But danger awaits them on every call. The threat of injury is always present, ready to attack the moment a lineman stops thinking about safety procedures while his mind focuses on the work to be done. At any time, injury and death could come in a flash.
What We Are Celebrating
Today, we raise a glass to success. Because that’s what these guys bring us every time they climb a pole. A safer, happier, easier world for you and me.
So thank a lineman today. They deserve it.
